About me

I am a Romanian writer and you can find in my homepage some information about me, about my books and my plays. I write in Romanian, but a few of my works are translated into English and French.
I was born in Arad, a town in the West of Romania. After high school, I went to the Music Academy in Bucharest. At the time I wished to become an opera singer, but I soon realized that I would never be a second Callas, so after graduating in 1972 I moved on and started writing. My first story was published in a magazine in 1974.
In 1975 I married a writer, H.Salem. He was a
prose-writer and wrote wonderful humorous stories and novels. And we
jointly wrote some plays - comedies, of course - and many humorous works
for the Radio and the TV. He unfortunately died in 1991.
My first book in print was a translation from Hungarian, the novel "Eppur si muove" of the classic writer Jokai Mor. After my husband's death, I continued to write plays, but also prose. I am a member of the Romanian Writers' Union and president of the playwriting and theatrical criticism section of the Bucharest Writers' Association (which is the Bucharest branch of the Writers' Union). Some months ago I was elected President of the ICWP (International Centre for Women Playwrights).
In the last few years I've discovered a new hobby - the web design. I built quite a lot of websites for myself, for my friends, for my fellow-writers, also for the Bucharest Writers' Association and for the magazine "Drama". Cooking is another hobby of mine, but web design is less dangerous for my weight!
